Mike Crownover
Michael Crownover brings more than three decades of experience in financial services, business leadership, and client relationships to his role as Chief Operating Officer of Modern Private Wealth.
Michael graduated from Penn State University in 1992 with a degree in Business Logistics and a minor in Business Law. He completed his securities licensing in 1993 and began his financial services career that same year with the Holtz Group. In 1996, Michael joined JJAN Financial, where he had the opportunity to work alongside his mentor, Jeff Sefchok. Jeff's guidance and influence played an important role in shaping Michael's career and his approach to serving clients.
Outside of his professional life, family has always been one of Michael's greatest priorities. He and his wife, Jessica, have been married for 28 years and have three children: Max, Mya, and Mason. The entire family shares a strong connection to Penn State, with Jessica and all three children also being Penn State graduates. Their son Max is an advisor and partner at Modern Private Wealth. Their daughter Mya is a lab scientist at UPMC Shadyside, and their son Mason plans to attend law school beginning in the fall of 2027.
At Modern Private Wealth
In 2026, Michael joined Nick Sefchok, Jeff's son, to establish Modern Private Wealth. Today, Michael serves as Chief Operating Officer, helping lead the firm's operations, strategy, and continued growth while remaining focused on the values of trust, personal relationships, and putting clients first.
Michael's career has been built on relationships — first with mentors and colleagues, and most importantly, with the clients and families he has had the privilege of serving. He brings that same commitment to Modern Private Wealth, where he is proud to help build a firm focused on providing thoughtful, personal, and long-term wealth management.
